This blog will be used to detail every musical thing that I am involved with in my life. It will also be a place where I vent my grievances and blabber on about what I'm playing, etc.
Right now, I'm learning Bach's Prelude II in C minor, simply to improve my finger work. The Prelude itself is easy enough. The fugue part, though...err...okay. I'm considering doing "Blue Rondo A La Turk" by Dave Brubeck for my first performance assessment, though we'll see.
One thing I will say, though; I hate it when you're sitting alone practicing, then stop, and you hear the pianist in the next room playing exactly the same thing as you, but faster. And every time you change the piece you play, they do the same. It's as if they're listening to what I'm playing, picking it up, then playing it back really fast, knowing I can hear it, as if to say "Hah, look at how good I am compared to you."
Well no. Fine. For now, well done, you can play the piano extremely well. Better than I can. But you're just giving me motivation to work harder. And due to that, after a while, I'll be doing the same to you. So thank you.
The music world is pretty much about 'survival of the fittest'. And now that I have competition in college, I'm just starting to realise that. Better now rather than later, ae?
